The RPW Intelect RPW Chattanooga and Mobile devices are wave generators ballistic shock compressed air. Shock waves are generated for both devices with a ballistic mechanism of precision found in the applicator and accelerating the projectile using compressed air. The movement and weight of the projectile produce kinetic energy is transformed, by the transmitter, sound energy as an acoustic wave. The acoustic wave is transmitted into the tissue through a coupling gel and commonly known as "wave therapy radial pressure". Acoustic waves propagation simulate the functions of regeneration through blood and metabolic and histological activity within the cell. Physical effects of Radial Pressure Waves Radial pressure waves provide a treatment solution for pathologies noninvasive soft tissue and prolonged insertion. Local treatment of the affected area will support and reset the healing pattern. Currently there are several hypotheses about the physical effects of radial pressure waves: • Pain Reduction: The patient enjoys reduced pain, according to the explanations of the theory of "Gate Control". Intensive pulses sent from the transmitter to the tissue result potent nociceptor activation of A-beta fibers, which affects interneurons which inhibit the transmission of pain signal. • Increased metabolism: Shockwaves influence the tissue at the cellular level. The chemical environment of the cells changes due to free radicals and promotion of the release of inhibitory substances of pain and inflammation. • Revascularization: Repeated application of shock waves in the affected area achieves revascularization in which the new blood flow to the area promotes healing and tissue regeneration. • Reduced muscle tone: The "vicious circle" as well as the strong pathological association between pain and muscle tone, is interrupted and gives way to restoring a normalized muscular tone.
